After nearly ten years largely spent away from pure artistic practice to focus on design and the craft of woodworking and furniture-making, Nguyen Ban Ga returns with "ripples of the day" at manzi—an open studio anchored at the intersection of design, craft, and sculpture, together with an installation of space, light, and sound. Emerging from a deeply personal disclosure—private preoccupations circling around memory, family bonds, distance in relationships, and the fear of separation—"ripples of the day," once it took form, seemed to slip beyond its own frame, somehow carrying (despite initial hesitations) other narratives along with it.
